Zone 6: Sotogrande

This zone is located from 1 hour and 10 minutes from the airport of Malaga. However, the airport of Gibraltar is less than 20 minutes from Sotogrande, allowing you to fly and arrive from here.

Sotogrande, at the western end of the Costa del Sol of Malaga, but actually within the municipality of San Roque in the province of Cádiz, is one of the most luxurious sports and residential areas in Europe. The 2,500 hectares cover all the facilities you can imagine such as Polo, Golf and beach clubs, world-class marina and incredible bars and restaurants. All this makes Sotogrande a unique experience for residents and visitors.

Sotogrande

Sotogrande has several beaches such as, Playa Guadalquiton the most deserted and quiet beach of the entire Costa del Sol. Playa Sotogrande with the Exclusive Sotogrande beach club. Playa Paseo del Mar and Torreguadiaro Beach. Playa el Cabrero in Cala Taraje / Cala Sardina.

There are many good restaurants, for example, Mytilus  a formal Belgian restaurant. Fish, chicken, mussels and steak are all recommended.

La Terrasse: Belgian brasserie on the front line of the marina with a view of boats. Beef specialty. Formally inside and a more relaxed outside lounge area.

El Mercardo del Levante. It is more an umbrella brand name for a series of vintage food trucks, gourmet food stalls, restaurants, live music, drinks and cocktails that take place on summer evenings on the La Ribera del Marlin quay in the Sotogrande marina. The quay (La Ribera del Marlin) is a delight for gourmets. Prices are slightly on the expensive side, as you would expect in Sotogrande, but offset by the location and the atmosphere.

From Sotogrande you can easily make a trip to Tarifa, with the surfing beach, Alcornocales Natural Park and Gibraltar. Sotogrande is home to the world-famous Valderrama-parcours, hosting the Volvo Masters and Ryder Cup. Horse riding (there are various Polo Clubs such as Santa María Polo Club Sotogrande), Tennis and Padel, Various water sports.

Drive a little further but is worth a visit to Castillo de Castellar de la Frontera, there is also a ZOO  that accommodates smuggled animals.
